BUDDHIST IMAGES A Buddhist image is a figure which may be painted, sculpted, or made in any other creative way. It functions more as a representation of the Buddha's spirit, such as loving kindness or compassion, than as a portrayal of the specific human being named Siddhartha Gautama (the historical Buddha's given name at birth). In a sense, it reflects aspects of Buddhist spirituality and constitutes a visual "dharma." Seeing an image can be a vivid reminder of one's buddha nature and its end result when fostered.
